Heikki Benjam Ruhanen
I've worked with many different business concepts - developed, planned and created a vision for them. I've worked with lean creation methods, such as, user validation, user testing and constant learning cycles. In teamwork I usually end up being a leader or a co-leader, and when put into a leadership position, I enjoy working for everyone else, guiding them and helping them achieve their best.
I've worked in sales and done cold calling, sales emails and sales planning. I've worked with amazing people in Dash as Head of People. Where I've coordinated, recruited and taken care of 68 volunteers. I've done small scale digital marketing and used HubSpot, Facebook Blueprint and blogs of companies like Smartly.io to hone my skills in business. I work and learn on my own initiative and am eager to prove myself by learning new fields in business.
I love to be a cultivator in a team full of talent and people smarter than me. I bring a positive atmosphere with me and inspire others to learn and grow in their careers. I'm a problem solver who has hustle of a true entrepreneur, who won't stand idle when faced with big challenges.
My life in 3 parts.
I love my life and I wouldn’t change a thing! It’s been hard, but doesn’t everyone have their problems. It only depends what is your perspective.
Born in normal happy Finnish christian family. Got bullied in school because I had such weird interests in all kind of knowledge. Dad died on a heart attack when I was 9. Changed bunch of schools. Math was super easy. Mother got cancer and died when I was 15. Had no motivation to study. First try to high school that I wanted failed. So I went traveling around the world when I was 16-17. Countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Holland. Together they add up to about 4-5 months of traveling.
When I got back from my travels. I started the boarding school of Päivölä which was sponsored by Nokia. It is a high school for mathematicians / programmers. High school that took 2 years to complete while working at an internship for Nokia 2 days a week. After that I ended up in the University of Eastern Finland to study Computer Science for a year. University didn't feel like my thing, so I quit. I started to learn about information security and reverse engineering with IDA and Immunity debugger. That was kinda nice, but then I figured how much I loved people.
Learning my passion
This time of my life is the shortest of the three, but the most meaningful. My friend pushed me to start a company giving me my first idea. An idea that I developed further, but had no means to accomplish in the way that I wanted. I have had some other ideas after that. I tried my luck at this event idea for startup people, but at least in Finland it didn't work out. I could have done marketing better and earlier, but I had no money. I continue to work on different kind of business ideas and now I'm Lead of Dash and building a event Company, while learning everything about Sales, leadership and business development.
